History beneath our feet: Researching New Concord's early history through artifacts lost by it's settlers

Max Cane will be presenting on his discoveries while metal detecting in New Concord as well as some of the research and mapping techniques that reveal home sites lost to time. Artifacts like militia buttons, fancy Georgian shoe buckles, and counterfeit British halfpennies give a glimpse into the daily lives of these families and the social climate in early American history.

The illustrated talk will be followed by a wine and cheese reception—and an opportunity to meet and question the speaker.

There is no fee for the event. All are welcome.

Max Cane holds a masters degree in Geology/Earth Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is the president of ProTek Recycling—a dealer in and consultant for e-Waste—in Troy, NY.
