The Society of New Concord is a truly non-profit organization. Our expenses are mostly connected with the two buildings which we own and are in the (nearly eternal) process of restoring: there are costs for heating, electricity, maintenance repairs and insurance. There are outlays related to some of our events, too. Dues fall well short of these expenses, so we depend on financial contributions from individuals and the occasional foundation gift to stay afloat. Because our members contribute time, work and skills, we can really stretch the contributed dollars. None of our officers or members are paid for their work.

Our building reconstruction projects have been financed by fund-raising campaigns and donations from a few foundations/businesses and some very generous individuals. Most of the work has been done by volunteer crews of neighbors, led by a few construction professionals. We are chartered as an educational corporation by the New York State Board of Regents and as a non-profit by the IRS under section 501(c)(3).

Please help our projects and donate here! Remember, the end of the tax year is coming!
